The Paradise of Uselessness .... Some Haikus by the Bard of Bat Yam (#BardOfBatYam) , Poet Laureate of Zion (#PoetLareateOfZion) Stephen Darori

Haiku (俳句) listen (help·info) (plural haiku) is a very short form of Japanese poetry. It is typically characterized by three qualities:

The essence of haiku is "cutting" (kiru). This is often represented by the juxtaposition of two images or ideas and a kireji ("cutting word") between them a kind of verbal punctuation mark which signals the moment of separation and colours the manner in which the juxtaposed elements are related.

Traditional haiku consist of 17 on (also known as morae though often loosely translated as "syllables"), in three phrases of 5, 7, and 5 on, respectively.(An alternative form of haiku consists of 11 on in three phrases of 3, 5, and 3 on, respectively.)
A kigo (seasonal reference), usually drawn from a saijiki, an extensive but defined list of such terms.

Modern Japanese haiku (現代俳句 gendai-haiku) are increasingly unlikely to follow the tradition of 17 on or to take nature as their subject but the use of juxtaposition continues to be honored in both traditional and modern haiku. There is a common, although relatively recent, perception that the images juxtaposed must be directly observed everyday objects or occurrences.

In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed in a single vertical line while haiku in English often appear in three lines to parallel the three phrases of Japanese haiku.

Over the years, I have written thousands of haikus. I’ve also realized over the years that many people don’t particularly care for this form of poetry. Nevertheless, I decided to post these poems. I truly hope they are enjoyed, although I doubt many people will bother reading them.

Useless paradise,
Vicious regions of the heart,
Walking lonely roads.

 Cemetery at night,
Secrets of the macabre,
Death stalks all corners.

 Pieces of anguish,
Filtered out in depression,
Pleasure buried deep.

Removed from darkness,
Stepping into the sunshine,
Regrets forgotten.

Lust imprinted deep,
Theater of the obscene,
A show seen

Heart beating harder
Terror in the reckoning-
The Interloper.

The last dreams die hard.
In a blaze of depression,
Out of reach always.

Passion for nothing,
Grim circumstances adrift.
Serenity Lost!

A crimson haven,
Safety from the dark long death.
A river of blood.

Life wounded deeply
Lacerations of the heart-
Praying for solace.

Walking in despair
In different shades of darkness
To the black rainbow

 Around the corner
Love that quickly fades away
Dreaming wide awake.

 Lost in the faces
Just a shadow in the crowd
A dismembered soul.

Passion never known
Rejection replayed again
Stuck in the moment.

 Walking the unknown
In the middle of somewhere
Lost in loneliness.
